Akita

The Akita Inu originally comes from Japan, where it is seen as a symbol of health and happiness and is given as a gift on special occasions such as weddings and births. Its most famous representative was Hachiko, whose story was also made into a movie. After the Second World War, a separate breeding line was created in America, the slightly larger American Akita.

The Akita Inu’s coat is dense and feels almost as coarse as bristles. Typical coat colors are red, sesame, brindle and white. The ears stand erect and its eyes are dark brown and triangular. The Akita Inu carries its tail curled up on its back.

The Akita Inu is known for its loyalty and courage, but is often very reserved towards strangers. It has a strong guarding and protective instinct, is prone to hunting behavior and rarely tolerates strange dogs near it, making it a demanding pet. It is very important that he is trained by an experienced owner who understands his needs and gives him the necessary attention and care.
