Australian Shepherd

The Australian Shepherd, also known as the Aussie, is known for its working qualities, intelligence and loyalty. Aussies have a double-layered coat that comes in a variety of colors and combinations, including black, red, blue and merle.

Aussies are considered loving, loyal and affectionate, which makes them excellent companions for active people. They are very intelligent and quickly learn to master various tricks and commands.

The Australian Shepherd does not originate from Australia, as the name might suggest, but was originally bred in the USA. Originally, this breed can be traced back to the dogs of Australian shepherds who emigrated to North America in the 19th century. They are still valued today as herding dogs on the farm. However, these agile dogs are also suitable for dog sports such as agility, flyball and frisbee.
