Border Collie

The Border Collie is of medium size and has a slender yet muscular build. Its coat is dense, of medium length and comes in various color combinations: black and white, brown and white, blue and white or red and white. Pied merle dogs have also been bred.

Border Collies are very active and need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. They are also extremely eager to learn and work and therefore need meaningful activity. The breed is one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world.

Border Collies are considered loyal and persistent. They were originally bred to help herd sheep. It was important for them to be able to carry out complex commands well and quickly. Nowadays, they are very successful in various dog sports such as agility, flyball and frisbee. As family dogs, Border Collies are loyal companions, but require consistent training.
