German Shepherd Dog

The German Shepherd Dog is strongly muscled and has a strong build. It has a long, broad head and a double coat, i.e. it has a dense undercoat beneath the outer coat. It can be gray-brown, brown with a black back or pure black.

Sheepdogs are known for their intelligence, willingness to work and loyalty. These dogs are very active and need regular exercise and mental stimulation. They also have a strong desire to bond and cooperate with their owners, but can also be headstrong. Sheepdogs are usually friendly and affectionate with their family members, but they are reserved or wary of strangers.

The German Shepherd was originally bred as a herding and livestock guarding dog. Today they are widely used as police, military, rescue and therapy dogs. Shepherd dogs often have a strong protective and guarding instinct, which makes them excellent watchdogs.
