Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, or Toller for short, has a sturdy build and a medium-length, water-repellent reddish-brown coat with white patches.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers are very energetic, intelligent and have a lively personality. They are easy to train and need regular exercise and exercise to stay happy and healthy. Tollers are very loyal and loving dogs that form a close bond with their owners. They are usually friendly with children and other pets, but due to their high energy levels and strong hunting instincts, they should be carefully supervised when interacting with small children or animals.

Tollers were bred specifically for hunting waterfowl, which they were usually supposed to bring to the hunter from the water after the shot. They still have a preference for water today and are excellent swimmers. Unlike the other retriever breeds, Tollers were also used for “duck tolling”, a unique and fascinating method of luring birds.
