Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback has a muscular and strong build and a short, shiny coat that can come in different colors, such as red, red-wheat or light wheat. The breed has a characteristic strand of hair on the back, the so-called ridge, which grows in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks are intelligent, loyal and independent. They have strong territorial behavior and can be very protective of their owner and their home. They are also considered stubborn and pose a certain challenge when it comes to training.

The Rhodesian Ridgeback was originally used for hunting lions. Due to their independent personality and strong hunting instinct, these dogs require consistent training and socialization. The breed is also known for its stamina: Ridgebacks can cover long distances, which makes them great companion dogs when hiking or jogging.
