Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie for short, has a petite stature with a long silky coat in the colors gray with brown or black with brown. White patches occur in the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier.

Dogs of this breed are intelligent, lively and very loyal to their caregivers. They are also affectionate and loving, but can bark loudly at strangers to defend their territory. Although their physique is very small, they are full of energy and need daily walks in nature. Yorkies are often very playful and love to be in the limelight. Due to their small Sizese they are well suited for living in apartments in the city.

Yorkshire Terriers were originally kept as exterminators in the homes of the working class in England. As they have only been bred as pure companion dogs for around 150 years, Yorkshire Terriers still show a certain hunting instinct, especially when encountering small animals such as birds or rodents.
